HAVEN'T YOU HEARD?

OpenLicht

Friday, 02. December 2016

What if …

… you could form your own bedside lamp out of a sort of modeling clay?

… your light at home was connected to your stereo and your TV and you could experience multimedial-based programmes as they were meant to be experienced?

…the lighting in each room adapted automatically to each person and situation?

These are some of the forward-looking aspects of light and lighting that our latets project, „OpenLicht“, deals with. Its vision is to enable everyone to creatively employ modern lighting technology. Completely new lighting concepts and individual experiences are meant to be brought to life by an Open Source-approach and a modular technology platform.

Partners in this project are universities (TU Deggendorf, TU Dresden), SMEs (Bernitz dLED GmbH, Innovationsmanufaktur GmbH), and major enterprises (Infineon Technologies AG). The project is being funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research in the framework of the “Open Photonik”-call.

The main target groups of OpenLicht are small- and medium-sized companies working with light, as well as designers, interior architects, and artists: They will be enabled to employ low-priced, state-of-the-art lighting technology for small batches and single installations, and thus to realize their creative ideas uncomplicatedly. Three special scenarios are in the foreground:

  • Mood light – for private people, with intelligent controls
  • Shop lighting – for installations in (small) shops
  • Light modeling – for artists, creatives, and light designers

Do you have ideas on this topic, for example what you wish for in the light of the future, in how far your lighting at home should/may be linked to personal data, or what you would need to use an Open Source platform for this topic. We – more specifically Martin Strehler (ms@we dont want spaminnovationsmanufaktur.com) – would love to hear from you. Or you can wait for a questionnaire which we are currently preparing and for which we are looking forward to your input.
